Greetings, Introductions and Beginnings

Welcome!

So by some chance of luck you have stumbled across my blog so let me be the first to welcome and invite you to sit for a spell and read through recipes and other thoughts of this collegiate baker. I am no stranger to the world wide web (typical college student) and thus after many years searching for recipes and other baking related topics I have discovered that although there are seemingly millions of baking-related websites there are few if any that address the challenges of baking in a colligate setting.

This blog comes to you from a small private catholic university in southern Connecticut, Sacred Heart University. As average college student I am up all hours of the night so the posts will probably occur in a nocturnal fashion. I've been baking since I was old enough to crack an egg without getting shell in the batter however since arriving at college I have been confronted with much greater challenges; communal living, ovens that are on their last leg, and many other joys and experiences of a typical college student. All of which (past, present and future) I will be exploring and sharing via this blog.

It's always been a dream of mine to open my own bakery and maybe someday I actually will but in this economy opening a business right is not ideal so I am in school for my second love, Exercise Science and Physical Therapy. Before you say it, yes I realize that baking and exercise don't generally go hand in hand but then again I've never understood the rationale behind not being able to have your cake and eat it too.

With a mother in marketing and a computer whiz for a father I figure I should be a poster child for blogging. So, tonight while baking a birthday cake for a fellow student turning 21 years old this weekend, I decided to take advantage of this genetic lottery and try my hand at blogging. Until tonight I have been using Face book as my forum but as of lately my Face book page has gone from a social outlet to being bogged down with my baking obsession. Although my friends are fans of eating my baking they aren't really the audience that can appreciate the full extent of a baking blog so I hope to reach a new audience with this blog. With that said this is a NEW blog and thus this is the first post (we've got to start somewhere) be patient with me and you may just enjoy this virtual account of a collegiate baker.
